Friday, September 28, 2018: Pt. Townsend and Pt. Angeles

Short version: I see why Port Townsend is a tourist destination and desired place to live. When I was in Pt. Angeles, I kept wishing I was heading to Victoria (easily accessible from PA). Alas.

M and I had okay crepes at La Belle Creperie in PA and then headed out for some sightseeing.

Although I had heard of the Olympic Peninsula for decades, it was only then that I realized Olympic National Park is gigantic! #sometimesaslowlearner

ONP visitors’ center taxidermy

We took a brief drive to the ONP gatehouse, opted against going in to the park, circled back to the visitors’ center, and drove to Port Townsend for the day.

Mt. Townsend Creamery is as cute as I thought (I’ve enjoyed their cheese for years) and they were so friendly. Wish I had a cooler with me. Instead I picked up some smoked cashews from Sequim which were excellent.

We walked the cute town, passing a group of 20-somethings playing old-time-y music (think: washboard) on the corner.

PT

We had ice cream at Elevated – fair and I can see loving it if PT was a treasured vacation spot.

We drove a ways to the huge and lovely Finn River Cider and had a particularly informative cider tasting. It’s a compound but so beautiful. An employee described the A&B cocktail as a way to use the apple brandy at home: mic equal parts bourbon and apple brandy and add a lemon twist.

We had an early dinner with a view at Kokopelli and then met up with our classmates.
