Thursday, April 11, 2019: first day in NOLA

C and I arrived at our cute Airbnb in the Lower Garden District. Inside, it’s spacious but kind of dark (shotgun layout).

We walked Magazine Street a short ways and stopped at Juan’s Flying Burrito for frozen lemon berry margaritas (perfect in the heat) and chips with chorizo-studded queso.

Slushy delights

We walked through the Garden District, admiring the beautiful architecture and walked to Coquette.

We shared some dishes at the bar:

Smoked catfish dip with paper thin radishes and pickled radishes, with chimichuri sauce (sooooo flavorful; C had read it is a must-try dish and we concur).

Chicken with crawfish and potato salad (sublime)

Chocolate pudding dessert with burnt honey ice cream and bittersweet chocolate crumbles (perfection)

And…the most delicious bread, served with whipped butter at the perfect, spreadable, delectable temperature. Whatever amount of salt they added was exceptional.

The bartender gave us a helpful list of his favorite spots.
C’s drink- perfectly balanced

After a quick stop for water, we called it a night.

Crawfish traps (?) at a random restaurant near us
