We began our day (perfect weather- sunny, no humidity) with a late jazz brunch on the porch of the Columns. It was gorgeous! It had been recommended by my dad’s friend, who knows the musician. Excellent advice. Only thing is I couldn’t handle the drink I ordered – it was soooo strong, so I only had a few sips. But pretty with its tri-citrus garnish.

We took the street car toward the French Quarter.
It felt very much like a big city at this point- a bit overwhelming. It was very busy (for instance, people were dancing in and out of their cars when stopped in traffic – through open doors, through the sunroof, etc.).
We looked at the Carousel Bar, but it was full as were most of the seats near the bar.
We wandered around the French Quarter a bit; passed a few stages of musicians (French Quarter Fest) but seemed to be in a cello-heavy area.
We visited the Historic Collection of New Orleans – I’d recommend it just for the free bathroom/air conditioning/respite from the crowd, but it was also very informative.

Taxidermied and gigantic
We had a short break at the Sucre Salon (I picked up some of their candied pecans at the museum gift shop).
We took the streetcar back and ended up walking by the other corn stalk fence. Kismet.

We walked to Juan’s Flying Burrito Kitchen for a simple meal, watched the first episode of the last season of Game of thrones, and got ready for our 7a Monday flight. All in all, a very fun and delicious trip!
