Oahu (December 2019)

Sunset dinner at Orchids

I spent Christmas on Oahu with friends and while I cannot completely describe the experience (so beautiful, so generous, so much laughter and camaraderie), I can say that I loved it and it’s is my favorite Hawaiian island I’ve visited.

Ten of us stayed in a beautiful ocean side home in Kailua.

Self-serve shave ice syrup. Out of sight but happy: tiny ants

Recommended food:

Piggy Smalls (inventive cross-culture Vietnamese)

Orchids (the lasagntte was superb, as was the chocolate macadamia nut dessert); we sat outside and enjoyed the sunset, and then a walk along Waikiki after dinner.

On Christmas morning, we stopped at Nene Goose Bakery for an assortment of goodies to enjoy back at home – cute and tasty. Their baked bun filled with mochi and red bean paste was perfect.

I think this was on H3 but I’m not certain

All in all, it was a very fun trip with lovely people, lots of joy, and generosity. I feel grateful to have experienced it.
